Program and Coverage Highlights

Program Highlights

  • Pre-Claim Assistance Hotline— Confidential source of guidance on a range of issues that aren’t necessarily claims—but may help you prevent or avoid one! Examples include, but are not limited to, help in responding to requests for information or subpoenas, crafting appropriate disclaimers, and deciphering industry contracts.
  • Easy-to-complete application form (download and return).
  • Fast turnaround (usually same day or next day) or quotations and policy documents.
  • Coverage provided for individual appraisers and real estate appraisal firms.
  • Both residential and commercial appraising is eligible for coverage.
  • Full prior acts coverage available to qualified applicants.
  • Policy is specific to appraising, which allows the underwriting and pricing to focus on this activity rather than a range of other real estate services.
  • Policy limits from $250,000 to $1,000,000. Deductibles from $1,000 to $5,000.
  • Convenient payment options via credit card (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover), or pay by check online.
  • Insuring company is rated A XV by A.M. Best insurance rating organization.

Coverage Highlights

  • Disciplinary Proceedings Endorsement—provides up to $5,000 in expenses to defend yourself against any complaint brought by a regulatory or disciplinary board or agency. Any payment made under this endorsement is in addition to the limits of liability on your policy.
  • Broad definition of Named Insured—includes full-time staff appraisers as well as independent contractors and subcontractors.
  • Loss of earnings up to $100 a day, subject to a limit of $1,000, for reasonable expenses incurred at the company’s request to assist in the investigation of a claim or defense of a suit.
  • Waiver of exclusions and conditions: If, for example, your partner fails to comply with the policy conditions or is excluded by their personal actions and you don’t know about it, the policy can still respond on your behalf.
  • Consent to settle—claims examiners work with you to achieve a desirable conclusion to your claim matter. If the company negotiates a settlement to which you do not agree, you have the option to continue the defense at your own expense, with the company’s maximum liability set at the settlement amount negotiated.
