The combined experience of our executive management team is not only impressive in years,
totaling more than 150, but also in the depth and breadth of their expertise.

Intercorp Chairman John J. Matternas began his career in the insurance industry more
than 50 years ago. He was an early proponent of mass marketing of insurance, and is credited with
forming the first association captive in Bermuda back in the 1970s. He has authored a book on the
formation of association captives. Over the years, others have often turned to him to help solve
particularly difficult risk transfer problems.

President Scott Barry came to Intercorp after successfully setting up a captive
services unit for Liberty Mutual Insurance Company, and 12 years as senior vice president of
underwriting for a large national insurance company specializing in programs. Scott’s contacts and
relationships in the insurance industry guarantee that we are providing our association and industry
clients with the best insurance carrier resources for their members.

Association experience, as well as communications and marketing know-how, are the forte of
Elaine Matternas, former Editor & Publisher of Association Management magazine,
published by the American Society of Association Executives. Elaine combines her communications skills
with more than 20 years of insurance experience to make sure Intercorp’s marketing materials reach our
target audiences. In addition to marketing and communications, Elaine oversees Intercorp’s operations.

Knowledge and experience in the association field are key to building relationships with our
association clients. Michael Nail is Intercorp’s “Man in Washington.” Mike is a
former Naval Officer and has years of business success in both the public and private sectors.
He understands associations and their issues and has hands-on leadership experience, having
spent the past 15 years of his professional life working in a national association as a
senior department head, chief operating officer, and CEO.
