Who is Intercorp?
We are a privately owned company staffed by a dedicated group of insurance professionals who create, market, and manage business insurance programs. The company was started in the early 1990s by John Matternas to provide niche insurance programs for market segments that were underserved by standard carrier offerings.
What do we do?
We create insurance programs. For example, we analyze the feasibility of a potential program, conduct surveys if needed, craft policy documents and program plans, secure insurance company partners and vendors, and put all of the necessary elements together. Or, we can perform any of these functions for a program that already exists.
We market insurance programs to target audiences and through independent insurance agents and brokers. Our marketing efforts encompass print and electronic advertising, telephone marketing, trade shows and other industry events, articles and resource documents.
We manage insurance programs. This includes rating and underwriting, policy issuance and related functions, premium collection and payments, tax filings, and statistical reporting.

Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. local time (Eastern U.S. time zone), but our website is up and running 24-7. During normal business hours, you will find a friendly human voice when you call us; if you leave a message or send an email during non-business hours, you will receive a prompt response or return call, always within 24 hours.
Where does Intercorp operate?
Our office is located in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, which is in the heart of the beautiful Pennsylvania Dutch country. But we are licensed to do business in all 50 states, and most of our programs are national in scope.
